AP: Bumpers, Pryor, Clinton Agree: Politics Noble
The three living giants of Arkansas public service agreed Friday night on the nobility of the profession they all chose -- politics.
Dale Bumpers, former governor and U.S. senator, recalled growing up in a family led by a father who esteemed public service.
"He said politics was a noble profession before Bobby Kennedy said it," Bumpers told a crowd of several hundred who turned out at the Clinton Presidential Library to hear him, former governor and U.S. senator David Pryor and former governor and president Bill Clinton. "I ran for governor (in 1970) to keep faith with my father."
