Clinton Presidential Center to Open New Exhibit “Space: From the Moon to Mars”

Six-time shuttle astronaut Story Musgrave "launches" exhibit and summer activities at Family Event and Exhibit Preview Actual moon rock to come in July

WHAT:
"SPACE: FROM THE MOON TO MARS" - Open to General Public Saturday, June 6 at 9 a.m. Presented by 3M, "Space: From the Moon to Mars" will feature fascinating artifacts, documents, models and memorabilia from the Clinton Presidential Library, Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA), Johnson Space Center (NASA), Mars Launch Operations Consulting, Marshall Space Center (NASA), Singer Telepathic, Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, U.S. Space & Rocket Center®, and others.

The exhibit will also include Space Station MIR and Space Camp ® Simulators, in cooperation with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center ®. The exhibit runs June 6 - August 30, 2009. Regular admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children, seniors and military personnel and $1 per simulator fees will apply.

OPENING PREVIEW EVENT:

Free Family Event/Exhibit Preview - Friday, June 5 at 6 p.m. Reservations Required The Clinton Center Great Hall is ground control for an out-of-this-world exhibit opening of "Space: From the Moon to Mars," featuring Story Musgrave, six-time shuttle astronaut and payload commander for the first Hubble Telescope rescue mission. Families can enjoy space snacks, telescopes to stargaze from the balcony of the Great Hall, a sneak peek of the exhibit, and a book signing. The event/preview is free, but reservations are required. Please RSVP to 501-748-0449 or specialeventsAtclintonfoundation.org. Hatch opens 6 p.m.; Mission begins 6:30 p.m.

SUMMER CAMP AT THE CLINTON CENTER - DESTINATION: SPACE

Students interested in the space program should consider a trial run right here in Little Rock. The Clinton Center welcomes Destination: Space for students who might one day don a space suit. In partnership with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center® in Huntsville, Alabama, summer camps at the Clinton Center will utilize the training equipment and expertise of the world-famous Space Camp®.

Rising 4th and 5th Graders - June 15-19
Rising 6th and 7th Graders - June 22-26
Rising 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Girls - July 13-17
Destination: Space Finale Rocket Launch - August 29
All camps run 8:30 a.m. - noon, Monday - Friday
$75 camp fee includes snacks, supplies, five days of admission and simulators, and a t-shirt ($25 discount for Clinton Presidential Center Members)

SUPER SUMMER SATURDAYS IN SPACE
The Clinton Center launches Super Summer Saturdays in Space: first mission begins June 6. Super Summer Saturdays is an annual program where exhibits come to life through exciting and educational activities for families. This year features an all-space lineup that will appeal to aspiring astronauts of any age. A special snack will be provided. Sponsored by BEI Precision Systems and Space Company, Inc.

NOTE: Regular admission and $1 per simulator fees apply. Space Station MIR and Space Camp ® Simulators will be available each Saturday.

The program will include arts and crafts, puppet shows, a hands-on meteorite demonstration, and music and dance performances.
