Clinton Center Announces Five Days of Giving Schedule
The William J. Clinton Presidential Center marks its fifth anniversary on Nov. 18, 2009. To commemorate the opening, the Center is hosting "Five Days of Giving," a five-day celebration to thank the citizens of Arkansas for their support of the Clinton Center.
The five days begin on Saturday, Nov. 14, when admission to the Library will be free to the public throughout the day. Saturday will also mark the beginning of the five-day Clinton Center Coat Drive along with partners Central Arkansas Gastroenterology Clinic, KATV Ch. 7, Oak Forest Cleaners, The Salvation Army and the Little Rock Fire Department. The Center will serve as the central drop off location.
"Five Days of Giving" culminates on the actual fifth anniversary of the dedication of the Clinton Presidential Center on Wednesday, Nov. 18, with a "Thank You, Arkansas" luncheon at the Clinton Center. The "Thank You, Arkansas" event has sold out.
"Our hope for the Clinton Center was to play an active role in our community," said Stephanie S. Streett, executive director of the William J. Clinton Foundation. "We are so grateful for the over 1.6 million visitors who have walked through our doors to see our unique exhibits, participated in our educational programming or took part in our free festivals over the past five years."
The schedule for "Five Days of Giving" is listed below.
Saturday, Nov. 14: Free Admission Day at the Clinton and Coat Drive Kick Off 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Clinton Library Library admission is free throughout the day from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Participate in the Clinton Center Coat Drive by dropping off any new or gently used coat to the Clinton Center, Oak Forest Cleaners (located at 8717 West Markham and 1217 Fair Park Road in Little Rock), and any Little Rock Fire Station.
Donors will receive a special gift ($25 value) from the Clinton Museum Store by bringing their coat donation receipt during the "Five Days of Giving."
Sunday, Nov. 15: "Crepes for Coats" 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Forty Two Diners who bring their coat donation receipt will receive a 15 percent discount at the Center's on-site restaurant Forty Two. In addition, a ten a percent discount will be offered at Forty Two during the five-day celebration.
Monday, Nov. 16: Clinton School of Public Service: Student Service Project Panel Noon - 1 p.m. Clinton School of Public Service/Sturgis Hall This panel, comprised of students from classes graduating in 2010 and 2011, will discuss their real world public service experiences both at home and abroad.
Tuesday, Nov. 17: Clinton Center Community Service Project 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oak Forrest Community Gardens and Various sculpture gardens in downtown Little Rock City Year Little Rock/North Little Rock, the William J. Clinton Presidential Center, and the City of Little Rock will engage 100 volunteers in service.
Wednesday, Nov. 18: "Thank You, Arkansas" Luncheon 11:30 a.m. Clinton Center The luncheon will be an opportunity to reflect, give back, and look forward. President Clinton will deliver the keynote address.
