Oklahoma City National Memorial Collaborates With Clinton Center on Exhibit
Dozens of artifacts of the Oklahoma City Bombing being packed and shipped to the Clinton Center.
"Leadership in a Time of Crisis" is a new special exhibit that will open at the William J. Clinton Presidential Center beginning March 1 and runs through June 1, 2010. In partnership with the William J Clinton Foundation, National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and Oklahoma City National Memorial, the exhibit focuses on President Clinton's leadership during what was one of the country's darkest hours, and helped rebuild a city that was torn apart by terrorism. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing.
On opening day, March 1, a panel comprised of survivors, first responders, families of victims, policy and law makers will lead a discussion about the events of April 19 and the aftermath. The discussion begins at 6 p.m. at the Clinton Center.
"On April 19, 1995, the eyes of the world were focused on the man-made tragedy that tested the resolve of one city, and in turn, the resolve of a nation," said Stephanie S. Streett, executive director of the William J. Clinton Foundation. "President Clinton led our country through this intense time of uncertainty and mourning, and remains committed to remembering those who were lost. The Clinton Center is proud to welcome ‘Leadership in a Time of Crisis' to Little Rock."
Dozens of photos, a video produced by the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum and more than 36 artifacts were shipped to the Clinton Center.
"We are honored to collaborate with the Clinton Presidential Center to utilize some of President Clinton's records and photographs," said Kari Watkins, executive director of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. "His leadership was astounding and his dedication to this event and this Memorial remains today, even 15 years later. We are proud to share our story with the visitors to the Clinton Center."
