Press Release: Ideas Matter!

William J. Clinton Presidential Center Launches "Ideas Matter!"

New Educational Tour Designed to Encourage and Inspire Students

The William J. Clinton Presidential Center launches its newest educational tool and tour, "Ideas Matter!," with the help of 15 fifth-grade students. Students from Little Rock's Rockefeller Elementary's Gifted and Talented program will take the maiden tour and will enjoy the first viewing of a special video message from President Clinton.

"Ideas Matter!," available in the Clinton Presidential Library, is a special self-guided tour for the leaders of tomorrow. This engaging, interactive activity allows young people to learn about America's achievements during President Clinton's time in office. It also challenges young visitors to think about ideas and qualities that have been important to President Clinton throughout his life as he continues to help people all over the world.

"We really hope that students who take this tour become inspired and recognize their own leadership traits," said Stephanie Streett, executive director of the William J. Clinton Foundation. "We want students from every walk of life, from every corner of the state, to feel empowered to become leaders - in their homes, at their schools and throughout their communities."

All 15 Rockefeller students completed a leadership essay in order to participate in the first tour. One student will read his or her "winning" essay during the launch and will have the opportunity to officially unveil the "Ideas Matter!" brochure.

"The ‘Ideas Matter' program is a wonderful addition to the resources offered to my students by the Clinton Presidential Center. The experience of connecting primary source documents to ideas and history is invaluable," said Faye Hanson, Gifted and Talented Specialist, Rockefeller Elementary. "The exhibits can bring the past to life and inspire them for the future. I am delighted by this new offering and my class is excited to be the first class to take the tour!"

Student who complete the tour receive a special Certificate of Achievement and a special gift redeemable at the Clinton Museum Store at 610 President Clinton Avenue.

"We want teachers and students to take advantage of this special tour, there is a lot to look at and a lot to learn about the path that took President Clinton from Hope to our nation's capitol," said Terri Garner, director of the Presidential Library.
